Life would be pretty lonely without a pet. Imagine growing up as a child with no cat

It is clear to our family that the Welfare of animals is the " LAST " thing on AWL'S agenda and pure Mega Profit is First ...

    Shame on you.

While they can on occasion discount some of their fees for a few genuine hardship cases sadly it's obvious that word of this has got around and now far too many expect it.

I've read a few of the reviews here and felt I had to leave one myself although I wouldn't normally. No one likes vet bills. As specially when dealing with the possibility of loosing a cherished pet.

How low can these people be to use the love that we all have for our animals against us to extract the maximum amount of revenue ..using the term " Animal Welfare " in their business name ...?!?.

The whole ordeal was the most " Unprofessional" and stressful we have ever been through , along with getting totally scammed by each of the vets involved charge wise !

We took our Small Dog there a few weeks ago who had a tick , took him there at 2pm and was told he would be given the " Antiserem" .

Over the years I've been to AWL Ipswich vet quiet a few times both for myself and with friends and their pets. While I certainly would have a preference on who to see there, all the staff have always been compassionate and professional regardless.

Now, if AWL had of advised us to take the dog to a 24/7 Vet Hospital in the 1st instance we would not only have saved $$$ but we would have saved putting the dog through a 4 vet , 24 hour stressful round trip and also minimize our stress and finances...

One has to wonder why Vetenary Practices aren't regulated ..and why they can charge whatever they like ..?

We went home and after an hour and a half AWL called us to say we had to come and collect the dog as they dont staff the place overnight and refered us to Animal Emergency at Underwood... AWL fee so far was $235 , So we rushed our dog to Underwood where he was put into an oxygen cage and drip overnight to the tune of $950 .. We were then told by Underwood Emergency vet to come and get the dog because they dont staff the place during the day ??.. and our dog still was oxygen dependant and we were told to take him 5 minutes down the road to the Albert Animal Hospital which we did .. he spent 2 hours there to the tune of $400 and then we were told they dont staff the place overnight and we would have to take him back to AWL Ipswich .. Reluctantly we took him back to AWL and they said our dog would have to spend at least another 4-5 days there as his Gag reflex wasnt right yet but he was no longer oxygen dependant... That charge was a further $600..?? Which took the grand total to

You missed out on a reasonable donation again, all if you could have waited 5 hours for payment.

The sadness you may go through imagine what it must be like for them dealing with this day after day 6 days a week year in year out often with no appreciation for their efforts.

Absolutely disgusting. After supporting this organisations with their mail outs and donations and purchases from them, when we needed assistance with one of our cats (who we also got from them) we were rudely told that no assistance was available until we paId a huge amount up front. So much for never turning an animal in distress away.

Try and keep in mind that AWL has to meet its operating expenses too. They can't help everyone for free or they would have to close shop.

Thank you to the staff here for being so caring and understanding. My partner and I really struggled when our cat was ill. The staff were so helpful, knowledgeable and really made a point of ensuring our cat was cared for day & night and keeping us up to date along the way. We owe her life to this clinic and the practice manager who went above and beyond for us. We will be grateful for many years to come!

When we rang we asked if the Animal Welfare League at Ipswich had an Avian Vet and explained the symptoms and we were told 'yes she is very experienced'. We had awoken that morning to our pet breathing funny and appeared quite unwell. By consultation time one look at our pet you could see he was in distress. Still we were made to wait in the waiting room for about 1.5 hours after our booked consultation time while they attended to stream after stream of minor things such as a dog who's owner was asking about flea powder and a cat owner asking about worming tablets. In the meantime our pet appeared to be getting sicker. Eventually we were seen. On top of all the fees charged to us was $25.00 for a few grams of what turned out to be a vitamin powder readily available for approx $12.95 for about 100grams. Turns out this definitely would not of been of help to our pet in anyway. We were desperate to save our little mates life. We asked if the vet could keep him in for treatment overnight. The answer, 'no, we don't do that here'. She told us to go and buy a product. We drove around for hours looking for it. We also had friends and other family driving around looking for it too plus making call after call to pet shops and other vet clinics. We could not find it in stock anywhere. We ended up dropping our pet off at a relatives house where he died while we were still trying to find this product that the vet told us to get. Turns out this product would not saved our pets life anyway so it was a waste of valuable time that should of been spent with our dying pet. I absolutely dispise the lack of care and treatment shown towards our beloved family member. We do not recall the vet giving us her name and it does not appear on the $200+ bill given to us either. We were $$$ supporters before this but not anymore.

The industry is a scam seriously ! , They probaly perform ' Tick Drops ' from helicopters around the suburbs as our bill suggests it's quite a lucrative Business ...
